South Indian Traditional Makarakanti Necklace



The Makarakanti is a ceremonial neclace, traditionally worn by royalty and their courtiers for ceremonial occasions. The central floral motif which is flanked by forms inspired by nature. This piece uses two peacock elements to frame it. 
Encrusted in the traditional South Indian closed setting style - Kundala velai, the main gemstones are cabochon Burmese rubies with highlights of rose cut and benaras cut diamonds complemented by cut and cabochon emeralds.
